Advice for foreign students

1. Qualified supervisor: I have published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Learning, and Big Data analytics, among which, 195 are written in English. I have been qualified to supervise Master’s and Ph.D. computer science students since 1994 and 1996, respectively.

Note that it is required for applicants to have adequate programming skills in Java and C or Python. Applicants can review questions from previous entrance exams in advance at the Administration Office of the Graduate School of Science and Technology.

7. Initial screening: If you are thinking of asking me to serve as your principal supervisor, please note that the deadline for submitting your application to the Meiji University office is fast approaching.

Please send me your (a) CV; (b) brief research plan in AI Lab.; (c) score of TOEIC or TOEFL; (d) GPA of graduated university; (e) Statue of JLPT; N2 or N1 or none? as soon as possible (about 2 months before the formal submission of the application).

These materials are mandatory for the application of AI Lab. Note that the applicants with these materials will be prioritized in the final exam.

8. Pre-interview: A direct interview in my office lasting about 1.0 hour should be scheduled before formal submission of the application. If the results are satisfactory, I will make encouraging suggestions for the exam.

9. Student Capacity: Note that the maximum capacity of graduate students, which includes Japanese graduate students, under my supervision for an entire Master’s course (2 years) is strictly limited to no more than 14 students by the Japanese government. Therefore, available slots for accepting foreign and Japanese applicants for the second exam sometimes become scarce and more competitive. Note that our graduate school has no research student system.
